Training and find job opportunities

We can help refugees and asylum seekers

  • find and access training courses such as English and computer courses or a course of your choice. (there is a limited fund to help towards course costs)
    gain new skills through doing voluntary work
    We can help refugees
  • find a work placement to help increase your skills in an area of work you are interested in
    find the right job for you
  • write a CV (i.e. a description of your past training and experience)
  • search for jobs

  • ESOL English course at Exeter College, available at different levels
  • Computer courses at Exeter library - Beginners (level 1)
  • Using your Computer
  • Introduction to Word Processing
  • Introduction to Electronic Communication (internet & email)
  • Introduction to Spreadsheets
  • Introduction to Desktop Publishing
  • Introduction to Web Publishing
  • ECDL course – 1 year course (Intermediate – for people with good working knowledge of computers)
  • English online course (called ELLIS) available in 23 languages (eg Arabic, Kurdish, Urdu, Dari etc.) at Exeter library
    English & Maths online National Test Qualification at Exeter library
    Most of the courses listed above are free, if there is a charge for the course, we may be able to help you with the costs. There are many more courses available, please speak to us if you are interested or want help to sign up to a course.

  • search for jobs (local newspapers, internet, companies)
  • plan & write your CV
  • fill in application forms
  • receive careers advice
  • interview techniques
  • gain new skills through voluntary work or work placements
